  7. Acorn Computers is appearing at the Ideal Home Exhibition showing off its
  8. wide range of computing solutions aimed specifically at the home user.

  10. Acorn is the only manufacturer of high quality 32-bit RISC computers
  11. starting from under #500, and last year won the coveted Queen's Award for
  12. Technological Achievement for the design and implementation of the ARM RISC
  13. processor found in every one of its Archimedes platforms. It is the market
  14. leader in Education and its computers are now found in the vast majority of
  15. schools across the UK.

  17. On the stand will be a wide representative selection of the Archimedes range
  18. of home computing solutions.  Centre stage will be two stations featuring a
  19. major new promotion in conjunction with Lotus Cars - the Lotus Turbo
  20. Challenge, which offers visitors the chance to win a trip around the Lotus
  21. factory and to try out the new Lotus Esprit S4; and for the ultimate
  22. champion, an all expenses paid trip to the Italian Grand Prix in September
  23. with a special pass to the Lotus Formula 1 team pits.

  25. Visitors to the stand will also be able to find out how computers can add a
  26. new dimension to music allowing you to create a studio in your own home. A
  27. range of software will be running which allows a home computer to "talk" to
  28. an instrumental keyboard and both produce a score automatically from notes
  29. played in on the keyboard as well as create complex compositions utilising a
  30. wide range of "voices" and effects on the instrument.

  32. Most people at one time or another have need of a range of tools including
  33. word processing, spreadsheets and database manipulation. Acorn's Learning
  34. Curve products are ideally suited with applications for the small business
  35. user right through to the society treasurer or secretary. On show at the
  36. Acorn stand will be word processing and desk top processing applications,
  37. which can use data imported directly from spreadsheets or databases and can
  38. easily be merged in to letters for mailshot purposes.

  40. Whilst Acorn computers feature the powerful RISC OS operating system, which
  41. allows many applications to run concurrently - multitasking with one another
  42. - they can also access PC programs swapping data with DOS applications. It
  43. is even possible to run Microsoft Windows inside a RISC OS window and for
  44. the two operating systems to use each other's data.
